Mozambique tragic road collision claims 22 lives

(MENAFN) A catastrophic road accident in the Cafumpe area of Mozambique's central province of Manica has resulted in a devastating loss of life, with authorities confirming 22 fatalities. The incident, a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a heavy long-haul truck, occurred on Monday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the region.

The accident initially claimed 19 lives at the scene. One additional victim died shortly after arriving at Chimoio Provincial Hospital (HPC).

Initial reports indicated that 19 individuals perished at the scene of the violent impact. Emergency responders rushed to the location, transporting the injured to the Chimoio Provincial Hospital (HPC). Tragically, one of those critically wounded succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival, raising the immediate death toll to 20.

Police in Manica have attributed the deadly crash to excessive speed and a blatant disregard for basic traffic regulations.
